I got to spend Mother's Day with my lovely grandmother, Gillian, and her gorgeous horse, Caledonia (Cal). She makes the 5:00 am, 25-mile trip out to her barn a few times a week to ride Cal. Since I don't know much about riding and caring for horses, she let me tag along on Sunday and document what a typical trip entails. It was fascinating to see the relationship she has built with Cal over the past few years! It was also pretty eye-opening to see all the work that goes into a day of riding. I won't get into details (think: mucking), but riding is definitely NOT the glamorous and elegant sport that it looks like on TV or in the movies!I'm proud to call Gillian my grandmother, and had a wonderful day with her and Cal!
Portrait of Cal, taken just after his shower. I love his cheeky tongue sticking out!
My brother and sister have two new puppies, and I got to see them this weekend! They snagged the cutest black puppy (Crixus) and the only brown one (Aramis) out of a litter of 10 a few weeks ago. Luckily, after a while they were pretty tuckered out from all the running around and I was able to get some good shots of them during a break from the playing. The puppies have made for a busy, busy, busy - but very cute and cuddly - home!
I decided to take a little field trip to the zoo last weekend. I was worried that it would be too cold to see most of the animals, but luckily they were out and about and put on some pretty good shows for us!
I got to play with the best dog in the world today, Scrapple! He had so much energy and loved chasing down the balls that Bill and Megan kept throwing for him. He also kept trying to steal their lunch - but how can you resist a face like his?
