FAQ

Have a question? Here are the most frequent questions that I get from current and future clients -- and the answers!

Q: Do you have a traditional studio?
A: I do not have a traditional studio with backdrops, although I do have a "portable studio" with some backdrops for in-home newborn sessions -  and super-fun wedding or event photo booth action!

Q: So...if you don't have a traditional studio, where do you hold your sessions?
A: Since I don't have a studio, I shoot all of my sessions on location. This means that I work with you to find a location that is suitable for the type of session that you have scheduled. I prefer to shoot on location (whether indoors or out) because I have noticed that people relax more when they're not in a traditional portrait studio. Because you're more relaxed, I'm able to capture more of your natural expressions and unique personality -- which I love to do!

Q: How do I select a location for my session?
A: Location selection is not as difficult as you may think! For newborn sessions, I specifically request to use your home because it is where your baby is most comfortable. For all other sessions, most clients choose to use their homes, or locations near their homes, especially if they have children. I love to showcase a slice of your life with my sessions. Using a location that has a special significance to you will add a meaningful depth and dimension to your portraits, and will help highlight your unique lifestyle!

Q: Help! What do I wear to my session?
A: I get this question pretty frequently. As a result, I created a Pinterest board dedicated to answering this question! It's full of outfit examples for girls, boys, seniors, couples, and families. Check it out here! I also decided to write a pretty detailed blog post about what to wear. The post is specific to springtime sessions, but the basic principals can be applied to a session in any season. Stay tuned for more highlighted "What to Wear" blog posts for high school seniors, engagements, and families!

Q: What equipment do you use?
A: I am a Nikon girl through and through. As you may have guessed, I use Nikon bodies and lenses. When I need additional light, I also use a variety of flashes, lights, and diffusers. I have a clean and simple editing style, and do all my editing in Adobe Lightroom. Check out my pinterest boards for more gear that I love!

Q: What does my session fee cover?
A: I consider each photograph that I provide to you a work of art, and I spend time perfecting them to match your lifestyle and personality. Your session fee covers my time and travel for the session, as well as my time after the session spent preparing your proof portfolio. If you purchase a package, the fee includes my time for your session in addition to the products provided as specified in your package.
